Add an Exact Google Maps Venue to an Event

Search for the real Google place, save its identifier and coordinates, and verify the embedded map before publishing the event.

Last updated 23 August 2026

A venue name and a free-typed address can point to different places. The Google place selection saves a precise map location while keeping useful written directions for the guest.

Complete Add an Exact Google Maps Venue to an Event

  1. 1. Open the event and scroll to Venue. Enter the venue name and begin typing the address in the place search.
  2. 2. Choose the matching Google Maps suggestion. Check the city, country and formatted address before accepting it.
  3. 3. Confirm the embedded map places the marker on the intended building or entrance area. Adjust the selection if it points only to a broad city or road.
  4. 4. Add any practical entrance, floor or landmark detail in the written venue information without replacing the precise place.
  5. 5. Save the event and reload the edit page. The map should return to the same saved place rather than geocoding a new guess.
  6. 6. Open the public event page and test the directions link on a phone.

Confirm the result

The event stores the Google place identifier, latitude, longitude and formatted address. The edit and public views show the same marker, and Open in Google Maps leads to that exact place.

If something is wrong

If suggestions do not appear, check the address wording and network, then choose a recognised place result. If the marker is broad, do not publish it as exact. Preserve the written address and report the event reference if a saved place changes after reload.
